1) What is CEBS? How is it related to this MBA program?

Centre for European Business Studies (CEBS) is a centre for grooming Indo-EU business experts. SPJIMR, Mumbai and ESB Business School, Reutlingen University, Germany have collaborated to establish Centre for European Business Studies (CEBS), the only European Union (EU) funded Centre for European Business Studies in India. It intends to enhance Indo-European understanding, academic exchange & business awareness. A joint MBA program in International Management (IM) is a step in this direction.

 

2) Will SPJIMR offer an MBA degree?

No. On successful completion of the 8-month course, SPJIMR will award a Post-Graduate Certificate in International Management (PGCIM).

 

3) But, how does a post-graduate certificate translate to an MBA in International Management?

Post successful completion of PGCIM, ESB Business School will automatically accept the credits towards its MBA in International Management in Semester III, which is the last semester of the program. You will be at ESB for 6-month period. This would include the completion of Master Thesis.

 

4) Do I need to apply for ESB separately?

No. The selection of the participants for both the certificate and MBA program is a one-time process. The participant receives invitation letters from both the ESB and SPJIMR on being selected.

 

5) Are there further specializations offered in PGCIM as in PGDM and PGPM (like Marketing, Finance, etc.)?

The degree awarded is   MBA in International Management”. There is no further specialization like it is in PGDM and PGPM courses. In the Semester III, participants can choose any five subjects from a list of eleven different courses offered.

 

6) What is the process of application and selection for the program?

The applicants of the program have to undergo a rigorous selection process.

  • A graduate degree from a recognized institute in India along with the valid test scores from competitive entrance tests like GMAT, CAT and XAT are a pre-requisite
  • A full-time work experience of two years and above is desired.
  • If short listed, the participants undergo a Group Discussion and interviews at SPJIMR, Mumbai conducted jointly by a panel from SPJIMR and ESB.

 

7) Will placements assistance be offered by SPJIMR or ESB?

You will be eligible for assistance from the ESB's Career Centre (similar to Placements in India) along with the other participants.

 

8) Do SPJIMR and ESB provide accommodation to the participants?

Yes, both SPJIMR and ESB provide accommodation for the PGCIM students. The program is fully-residential.

 

9) Do I get to undergo any international language training while pursuing MBA?

Yes, you will. German Language training is part of the curriculum. Participants have to acquire the skills at A2 level in accordance with European Framework of Languages prior to the end of the MBA course.

 

10) Can you please throw some light on the pedagogy and the course details?

This program is an accelerated MBA course. The classroom sessions can be very demanding.

 

  • Participants need to prepare for each session with pre-reads. This makes the class discussions more meaningful.
  • The instructor facilitates an interactive environment that is very conducive for learning.
  • A lot of learning is derived by analysing case studies from Harvard Business School.
  • Simulation activities in association with internationally renowned institutes give the participants near to real life experience.
  • The continuous evaluation through group works and presentations with peers, quizzes and final examinations are ideal for consistent and thorough learning of the subjects.
  • General Management coupled with subjects such as Intercultural Management, International Business Law, International Marketing and German Language skills make this management degree truly international.
  • The exposure to European Business Processes and extensive research (Master Thesis) for a European company bring out an expert in Indo-EU business management.
